stock ix fuel pump vs. walbro 255?

i've read that the stock ix pump has a higher flow rate that the viii's.

not sure if this is true or not but has anyone done a flow comparison or a stock ix pump vs. the standard walbro255 pump that everyone uses?

thanks

I am pretty sure AMS did a test on this. yes the IX pump outflows the VIII and is good for almost all the bolt ons i would say.

The walbro outflows the IX by plenty, as 500whp+ setups use a single walbro.

So it goes viii < IX < Walbro

i'm doing nasa time trials and could really use the points that they ding you for on the pump. but i don't want to grenade the motor for the points either

+1 to what 520 said but I'd definetly go bigger pump if you went bigger turbo.

great threads. exactly what i was looking for.
i did search but didn't come across these threads.

so one last question, now that i know what the pump flows how can i tell what the max hp i can run safely at that rate is?
do i just go by the injector duty cycles * injector CC's to figure how much fuel it's moving and just make sure there's a bit of headroom on the injectors and the pump?

thanks again

The Walbro fuel pump is cheap insurance at less then $100. I would update it regardless.

thanks but this is sort of a special situation and has nothing at all to do with money. actually i have one in the car already but i really need the points back to run the tires i want and still stay in my class. so i'm just trying to figure out if the stock pump can safely cover the hp level i'm at.
