Build my Block Or Buy Built Shortblock?

Well the time has come to either have my block built or buy a built one from buscher/JAM. My question is should i have my block built or purchase a complete built block? Im undecided. I am tempted to get the built one as it blueprinted and has the backing of a major builder. Or i can have my block built for cheaper and have it built to OEM tolerances and specs. I plan on a 2.3 and i dont want to have to build it again, in other words i want it built right the first time and i dont want to have to worry about it. I plan on running a 30r and i am shooting for arround 500 on 100octane. Any input would be greatly appreciated!!!

I know alot of locals who are running 30r kits and maxing out the turbo on a 30r in my opinion will not need an engine build. There are people with 35r's making almost 600whp on stock blocks. Also a 2.3 would be nice, but the 30'r does not really take that long to spool. If you wanna see some stock block evo's with 30'rs doing some dirty PM and i will send you the link (cant show on evoM will get banned)

Best of luck!

I'm waiting to see when they finish the 2.3 RR block. That will be sweet.

Two points:

(1) If you 'don't want to have to build it again', than consider investing in something built by those who know best how to give you something that stands the best chance of weathering the usual wear and tear.

(2) The builders you mentioned require a rebuildable core, so either way, you'll be sending yours off to be rebuilt.

I would buy a built block. There going to ask you to either send your core back or pay for the core charge.

im sorry, but the 2.3RR motor is a TOTAL waste of money. I rather spend 8k on something else! 4k is one thing, 8 is another!

Why not go with the Jun 2.2 kit and save a couple thousand bucks?

Unless you have experience building blocks, or extremely pateint w/ tools + time + ability then build it yourself, or you can just have it done at Buschur/AMS/Jam, which all have great reputations.
