Exclamation Did The Dealership Cause My Transfer Case Failure? (Expert/Mitsu Tech Help Please?!)

I brought my car in for service due to my transmission not being able to shift into 2nd gear (as a result of my 3rd/4th gear shift fork broken off and blocking my 2nd gear syncro). The transmission was rebuilt and the clutch replaced (don't ask me how I pulled that one off, lucky I guess).

About a hundred miles later I started hearing a "whine" in the drivetrain above 30MPH that changed pitch with the speed of the car (NOT the speed of the gears) that sounded like a tornado siren. It also whined down (sounded like a firetruck siren winding down - lower pitched) from 10MPH down. I did some research on the infamous "death whine" to find that it is most likely my transfer case. After looking at my invoice more closely, I'm wondering if they may have used the wrong gear oil in my transfer case?

1 ACH1ZC1X05 A/T TRANS. FLUID SPIII (For the ACD, thanks sgevotx)

I'm not sure if the quantities actually mean that is how many of that part they used or not, I'm not a tech. But the quantity of 1 Super Dia Queen and the quantity of 4 of this GL4 crap kinda threw me off.

The MZ313376 is correct (assuming they put it in the tranny of course). Qty of 1 is becuase we get them in 4L cans, and when it comes to billing warranty stuff, well, even though only a little bit goes in, "we" have to bill it out at that.

That A991ZC2X01 what is supposed to go in the RS/GSR transmissions. The tcase should in fact of had the reg diaqueen (3775610) put in it. Now, being we were not the dealership that did the work, I can't tell you where they put what. For all we know, they could have used reg trans fluid for your tranny and the super diaqueen in your tcase. They put a qty for it?

And like someone else stated, the ACH1ZC1X05 is for your ACD.

Damn, could I have requested the left over MR DIAQUEEN Super?

SO, sounds like they put GL4 in my Tcase and not GL5 DIAQUEEN... I'm not going to say anything and see what they say before pointing this out to them. They put a quantity of 4 for the GL4 lube, I was curious about that since the TCase only holds .58 quarts of fluid.

Thanks for your help!

Well if they put a qty of 4 of the GL4, it sounds like they put that in your tranny, and the super diaqueen in your tcase.

You guys would be surprised how many dealerships don't know the difference .

It's pretty common for T-cases to go soon after a clutch install. Maybe Shep would be more enlightening as to why, but it is common. Sorry to hear about the T-case!

THAT scares me... Should I demand a new TCase as well as the fluid be changed in both to the correct fluids (politely of course)?

*UPDATE*

The dealership finally had an opening so I could drop my car off and have them diagnose the problem. The first time the test drove it they could not hear the problem, so they had 2 other people test drive it and finally they could hear it. What I thought was the transfer case is actually the REAR DIFFERENTIAL? They said they listened to it with a stethoscope to verify it. I am waiting to hear back on what they plan on doing to solve the problem.
