i noticed that my clutch was slipping last nite in 5th gear only well. I went to the track and ran it twice i did not run it to hard but i did want it to go out all the way. i only ran like 14.44 & 14.24. but when i was leaveing the track i notice a slip in like 3, 4 and 5. i have not got to ythe dealer yet i am about today i dont really know want to tell the dealer i dont want to tell him i went to the track and it broke any Suggestion on want should i say to the dealer.

Don't mention the track

I'd just go to the dealer and play stupid...... "I thought it was just breaking in, its been like this but getting worse since I picked it up."

How many miles are on the car? Unless you can prove it wore out extremely prematurely it most likely won't be covered since the clutch is a wear item.

Alright, this clutch thing is bull****. It really pisses me off that I cant drive my evo like an evo with out having to get a $2,000 clutch job. As long as I drive it like a Corrola I'll be fine So how long do I have on my clutch? I drive nice most of the time but I take off every once in a while. So my clutch will go out at what, 15,000 miles

Not true. Just try not to smoke the clutch plate and it will be fine. Hard launches = dead clutch. Alternative -- take off quickly but don't dump the clutch at high RPM or ride it too long while feathering it out or you will smoke it and it could easily wear out much faster. If you want to be a hard core drag racer ... then go buy a hard core race clutch = that simple. With that said, I smoked my clutch numorous times before I figured out how to take off fast without beatin the heel out of the clutch ..... it is good for now but i may not have much more clutch left to smoke. Lastly, this doesn't mean your clutch can only take corolla speeds dude ...

or just buy my RMR 6 puck sprung hub clutch. I have 2 for sale @ $ 190 each and they will help your problems. It is just the clutch disk, no flywheel or pressure plate.

Sounds like a good idea but Al Friedman (Alfriedesq) was telling us in a recent post that the 6 puck caused major problems in his buddy's evo. Not sure about the details but it may be worth it to pm big Al.

All I can "really" say is ... Dude is it your clutch, tranny, or both Forgive me if English is not your 1st language ........... BUT IF IT IS ... NEVERMIND.

By the way, since you are new to a manual transmission ....... I don't even want to think about what that poor tranny & clutch are going through during your hard driving. Good luck ... evo.

well one other guy i know has a evo too and got it from the same dealer and got it done for like $1100 with the oil change but he told the dealer that he raced it to much.

But if i have to pay that much or at all i will get the RMR 6 Puck Clutch for sure.

Hey 1badevo, what dealership did you take it to, to get it fixed? I just picked up my evo and was woundering which dealership in town to take it to for warrenty work, maintence, etc. I don't wanna take it to a ****y stealership and have them log **** about me racing and abusing my evo on the mitsubishi database.
