Ebay High Flow Cat

What's the story with these dirt cheap ebay hfc? I am looking to buy a high flow cat and am not going to spend $200 if i want spend $50. Are they legit? Also, if anyone's wondering why i want a hfc and not a test pipe/cat delete, it's b/c I want to save a tree; that's not really what I want to discuss here. Thanks

some examples:

Oh, and what's the stock cat's diameter? Thanks

Even though they call it a high-flow cat it isn't, there is no honeycomb inside. A more accurate description is a resonated test pipe.

I have used them before and they don't filter sound much but if you live in an area where cops visually check exhaust this "might" pass as a cat just by looking at it but if you get the sniffer test forget about it.

The things you need to watch out for are the ID's of those pipe. Some are 3" by the flange but then neck-down in the resonator area. It also looks like in your first link that the bolt pattern is off, if that even is the actual EVO unit pictured.

Thanks for the great info!

Yeah, I also noticed the flange in the one auction is wrong. Also, I was worried they weren't really HFC as you mentioned. I guess I will steer clear of this type

bluebanana23, that link you posted, how would I go about putting it on the car w/o the flanges? Would I have to get them welded? Or??

Thanks again.

not reducing pollutants.... if i could I would go with a straight pipe set-up... so i decided to get a test pipe instead to fool the cops when they look under my car.... I guess i'm killing the ozone layer.....hahahahha

I would not get one just in case.. You might only spend 50$ but if it dosent pass inspection it's not worth it IMO, I bought the Buscher and paid 150 shipped, Pay the extra for peice of mind.
