Turbo Reliability

Just wondering how reliable are these turbos in the new evo VIII. Will these need replacement after so many miles, and if so, how many? Do they hold up a descent amount of power over a 100,000 mile life and more?
Thanks

Its a 16G, about as reliable as they come, they are mass produced heavy industry turbos meant for diesel trucks, so they are high quality.

I believe most non-ball bearing turbos only last at most till 60,000 miles.

60,000? That sucks. I already have 30,000 miles in my ES (which is over a year old) So if I had an Evo, I be half way done with my car before I would have to start replacing stuff... that would suck.

On synthetic oil the 16G will last a lot longer then 60K. Read the first couple of posts, they nailed it right on the head. You can get 100K no problem if you take care of it.

Umm, my 12 year old, 130,000 mile 14b turbo (non ball bearing) still spools 14psi like a champ. There are lots of stock turbo'd cars out there with over 100k on them. If you never change your oil, drive the car hard and not let it cool down, and generally abuse your car, then I could see it only lasting 60k. But then I'd have to say you deseved it.

Not true at all.

Hell, my 16G, which is pushed pretty damn hard, has more miles than that on it.
