Mixing Trannsmission Fluids OK? (MR Diaqueen w/others) Experts Help Please!
Is anyone else frustrated by the fact that you can only change your MR trannsmission fluid ONCE from the $85 can of MR Diaqueen?
My question is... Can I change my fluid using the REMAINDER of my MR Diaqueen (4qt - 2.3qt = 1.7qt remaining, in a perfect world) and use something else (i.e. Mobil1, Syncroshift, Syncromesh, etc) for what little bit (.6qt in a perfect world) the MR Diaqueen doesn't cover? I just hate having to buy a new can EVERY SINGLE TIME I want to change my tranny fluid. I realize that some believe that NOTHING can touch the MR transmission but MR Diaqueen, but can I HURT or DAMAGE anything by using something else in combination with the MR diaqueen or should I simply bite the bullet and buy another can of the "liquid gold?"
Thanks for your help!

How many miles? How often do you change your Tranny fluid? $85 every 3 or 4 months is not that bad. Saving $21.25 every month for 4 months hard? or $28 every month for 3 months... you get my picture. You own an evo not a yaris, lets not short cut...if money was a huge issue for you, I think you would have purchased a RS, or GSR before the MR...
Good luck.
ps( you can mix SuperDiaqueen w/ other tranny fluids making sure it's the correct weight, however, the peformance probably wont' be there...)

i wouldn't use anything synth. ever. Synthetic oils are terrible, i dont care what anyone says... Ask any performance manufactures. Most will void there warranty if you use synth. valvoline oils only may to go. don't mix synthetic. with normal oil either.

I just did the math. Buying another can would give me 2 additional changes. There is the 1.7qt left remaining in the can I have and then there would be .6qt taken from the new can I buy, leaving 3.4qt in the "new" can for a 3rd fluid change.

how often are you changing the fluid? every 30,000 is recommended, if your racing every weakend then maybe more frequently, change it too often, your just throwing your money away...

Mitsubishi seems to like Mobil 1 oil, which is (at least for now) a synthetic oil. Synthetic seem to work for lots of people, I don't know what the above poster is talking about.
Personally, I use a fully synthetic 75W-85 EXACT EQUIVALENT of the Super Diaqueen. It's a MOPAR fluid. I have 70,000 miles on my tranny, and it still shifts like butter. With the OEM fluid, my 2nd gear would be grumpy when cold. Now it's totally smooth all the time.
The only caveat is the 6 speed gets hot, and with less fluid and thinner weight, you'll need to change the tranny oil approx 7500 miles (in my experience). The MOPAR stuff is expensive though (approx $20 a bottle).
Razorlab uses a Redline cocktail in his 6 speed. Pm him for the recipe.

Dave, Syncroshift II is synthetic. I have it in my VIII and it works great, had it in since 10k and it just turned 35k. Your lack of room for oil because of the sixth gear may make you choice very important. How was this weekend?
