I want to "edit" my post from above but if I just edit it there it won't be seen. So we are clear on my point about the trans/shifting etc.

The transmission is a Bushwacker Stage 1, same trans that is in my RS, Trent's car and I can't even count how many other EVO's at this point. So it isn't a BONE STOCK trans. What I meant by that is it's a standard helical cut gear box, not a dog box, straight cut gears etc. So a fully syncronized EVO 5 Speed.

The car is pretty violent and it is nearly impossible to power shift it (leaving the throttle to the floor) at the RPM we shift at. Daniel shifts on the revlimiter which is set at 10,300 rpm. Sometimes it will go into gear at that RPM, sometimes it won't, he's found it better to just let off the throttle and shift and make a good clean pass than have a good pass or launch going and then blow a shift because the factory trans won't allow a 10,000+ rpm shift to happen.

The turbo takes .75 seconds to recover from a shift, so it kills the ET/MPH. What this means is if the turbo peaks at 40 psi of boost, then the clutch is depressed-throttle lifted and then shifted and put back to full throttle it takes .75 seconds for the turbo to again reach 40 psi of boost. That's 3 times per pass this happens!

Just wanted to clarify.

Get a dog box!!
Go do it now!
First evo in the 7's??? If anyone has that record, it ought to be you!
go get a dog box...

SStop anyone from ever talking trash again, and go get a SEVEN second pass in an Evo!!!

Seriously... don't you have any connections here that can help you out with that? Didn't Shep racing use bottom ends built by you for a while? have him return the favor!!!!

Your old 1G orange dsm now belongs to Dogbox.com or something like that doesn't it? have them donate a transmission!!

seriously... go do it... right now!!

All though no clarification was needed as you already mentioned the basically stage 1 trans in the first post, we appreciate you clearing the air for the haters .....also thanks for including the mention of the axles as well.

What you said in this post is what i have been preaching to a bunch of the guys at the shop as we have a big race CMI in Sacramento this weekend.

We don't make nearly as much power as you big boyz but we do have a few cars capable of high 9's - low 10's.......but i keep telling them a pass that's a few tenths slower is better than none at all or worse yet breakage due to fighting the car to make it do what you want it to

I LOVE DRAG RACING

Some comments/answers:

We do have the MPH record, 169.59, the mph on the 8.88 run was 169.42 and we have two other runs at 169.XX.

Yes, I built engines for John Shepherd. The record he currently holds with both ET and MPH were with my shortblock in the car. He has no desire to build a $10,000 dog box for our car, I am sure. With Daniel, my brother, doing transmission rebuilds here too it would be a conflict of interest for both parties anyway. Daniel can build the trans it's just me coughing up all the money for the gears, I'm not willing to do it. If that means 2nd place then so be it. I just can't throw that much money into it.

Something else, the sh** talking never ends, doesn't matter how fast you are or what you've done. We were the 1st in the 8's with EVO, big deal now. We were the first in the 12's, 11's, 10's, 9's, 8's and 7's with the DSM's/4G63 engine, big freaking deal now. What was doesn't matter, what's now is all that matters.
