I'm thinking very seriously about an EVOGreen. I'm torn between the choices for the hotside - 9.0, 9.8, or 10.5.

For a street-only VIII running straight 91 octane I'm leaning toward the 9.0 HS. What do you'll think? Would I be sorry later?

Would I even get enough out of a Green to be worth upgrading from my IX turbo?

You would probably be dissappointed in the Green eventually if you plan to stay on pump gas...........especially 91 octane. The Green shines in 23psi-30psi range. Not sure about the hotside............if you regret the 9.8 hotside, you could swap it with your current 9 turbo.

Might be boost quicker with smaller hotside. Stay with the 10.5

Forced Performance is no longer accepting Evo 8 turbos for Green conversion. They also bumped there price up from $849 to $999 for 9 turbo conversions

Just for an upgraded turbine wheel, I feel it's overpriced. Just my .02cents

Evogreen has a white rabbit 20G-9-5 compressor wheel combined with a larger turbine wheel. So they upgrade both the turbine and compressor wheel on the IX turbo.

I have been running an EvoGreen with the mods listed below in my sig for a few months now on 90 octane pump at 21.5#. I just Emailed FP about the availability of the 9.0 cm2 turbine housing.

I figure to go for the housing swap. To complement the faster spool of the 9.0 housing I intend to install an Aquamist Alky kit programmed to spray a fine mist early, so as to further optimize spoolup. I'll also advance the cams up to +1/-1 in an ultiimate attempt to scoot through my close ratio JDM RS gearbox in a hurry.

I figure that with the alky, the 9.0 cm2 housing, and the advanced cam timing, I can get the Green to 22# by 2700-2800 RPM and the alky'll let me carry that on up to a peak boost of about 26-27 PSI.

The Green is a great upgrade. Very comparable to a 50trim actually. You will notice a difference from your 8 turbo. The green shines up top though in the high boost range. GREEN + METH FTW.

I'll be watching you! Keep us updated on your progress. If you get the 9.0 HS, I'd like your full report. I do hope you try the 9.0 HS w/o the injection, just so you can see how much it contributes.

BTW, are you planning to delete the Xede?

Well, actually I was planning to replace the XEDE with a 91 octane Mellon flash. In fact, I am just waiting to install the 9.0 HS, port my exhaust and intake manifolds, in addition to a ported TB before having Mellon flash my car.

The only fly in the ointment is that, AFAIK, Mellon doesn't do Email Alky flashes. So, what I'll probably try is having my friend, JR Simon, who tunes my XEDE, build me an Alky XEDE map and toggle back and forth between it and a zeroed out XEDE which defaults to my 91 octane Mellon flash, if it's possible(?). Or have JR build me an XEDE Alky map which uses the Mellon 91 flash as a base map. There must be a way.

For sure, I will first try the 9.0 HS with a Mellon flash, on a straight pump gas diet. Only when it is fully sorted out with the new mods on pumpgas, will I attempt to figure out what to do about installing the Alky kit and getting it retuned.
