Fuel Cut Defender

I jacked up the boost today to 18psi, and anytime I was on full boost for more than about 1/2 a second, the car would jerk as if I hit the rev limiter.

I'm assuming there's a fuel cut defender to prevent us overboosting these cars, is 18psi about right?

If so, might be time to change the fuel cut defender to something higher... I want to be running a bit more boost.

fuel cut usually doesn't come into play till around 22 psi... that's odd that you are experincing it at 18 psi.

damn, im hitting fuel cut at 21 psi when I short shift into 4th and wood it. Ill hit fuel cut by 4000 rpm...

If I redline 3rd and shift into 4th, my rpms are about 5000, and I dont hit fuel cut then...

Maybe they were set earlier with the VI?

Stock boost appears to be 12psi, so 18psi is a 50% increase on stock.

Claudius,

On my evo6 I am running a Ralliart ecu that is supposed to be for race gas and limiter-less. I was under the impression that the limiter they meant was missing was the rev limiter. I did hear that the stock ecu comes with a speed limiter too. Since my car will not rev pas 7,500-7,600 rpm's I'm assuming the ralliart ecu still has the rev limiter at the same rpms as the stocker?
I have installed HKS 264 cams and springs so I would imagine it would be able to rev higher.

All A fuel cut defensor does is lean your car out, that is it, you get fuel cut when your injectors hit max duty cycle, so it leans the car out, not that safe.

Autowhattie?

Sorry, I think I lost the plot there...

I think I have a misconception of what a fuel cut defender is. I thought it was the device that protected the engine from accidental overboosting, but then also stopped you raising the boost too much. A friend of mine makes an electronic device which he calls a variable fuel cut defender, which has a knob on it that allows you to change when fuel gets cut.

Is that the same thing?
