Fuel Cut Defender
I jacked up the boost today to 18psi, and anytime I was on full boost for more than about 1/2 a second, the car would jerk as if I hit the rev limiter.
I'm assuming there's a fuel cut defender to prevent us overboosting these cars, is 18psi about right?
If so, might be time to change the fuel cut defender to something higher... I want to be running a bit more boost.

There is not a fuel cut defender, there is a fuel cut programmed into your car. It happens at 1700 Hz Karman value at 20°C and 1000 mbar athmospheric pressure approx. That is roughly 1.2 bars relative boost.
To keep it from doing that, lower the boost or get a programmable ECU to take full advantage of running higher boost. I wouldnt go above 1.5 bars / 22 PSI.

Claudius,
On my evo6 I am running a Ralliart ecu that is supposed to be for race gas and limiter-less. I was under the impression that the limiter they meant was missing was the rev limiter. I did hear that the stock ecu comes with a speed limiter too. Since my car will not rev pas 7,500-7,600 rpm's I'm assuming the ralliart ecu still has the rev limiter at the same rpms as the stocker?
I have installed HKS 264 cams and springs so I would imagine it would be able to rev higher.

Autowhattie?
Sorry, I think I lost the plot there...
I think I have a misconception of what a fuel cut defender is. I thought it was the device that protected the engine from accidental overboosting, but then also stopped you raising the boost too much. A friend of mine makes an electronic device which he calls a variable fuel cut defender, which has a knob on it that allows you to change when fuel gets cut.
Is that the same thing?

There are 3 different Ralliart ECUs. You need the one for street if you dont use race gas. There is of course a rev limiter, no matter what cams you run. There is no speed limiter unless your car is JDM spec.
