MAF cleaning

does anyone know what i can use to clean out the MAF? can i use wd40 or carb cleaner? or should i just leave the MAF alone? i dont want to damage anything. i juat figure since i have it off maybe clean it out

no.. you use a MAF cleaner.. it's a specal product. Yes leave it alone unless you need to clean it.

in most cases it works perfect for me if i do a ( how to clea a mass air flow sensor) on Google i promise you will find something,,,,, oh and when you do please post the article here so the others can learn..

although i think you can use electronics cleaner,,, forgot the name of it.,,, autozone, pepboys and family carries it

All you need is Electrical Contact cleaner.

Never use WD40 to clean the MAF unless your goal is to ruin it and get a new one under warranty.

Use distilled water and isopropanol. Or the contact cleaner

ı use brake pad cleaner fluıd and ıt ıs very good no problem

Use electrical contact cleaner...other things will not evaporate fast and can leave a residue on it.

go to your local autozone, pepboys, etc. and buy this mass air sensor cleaner. i usually clean mine at every oil change.

Since the Evo doesn't use a hotwire maf, just wiping it down is ok

I had to get it at Pep Boys, AutoZone didnt carry it.

I use it evrytime I change my air filter although the maf sensor never seems to be that dirty. Someone that has a oil type filter(K and N, aem non driflow filter,etc.) might see more dirt and gunk coming off the maf sensor when cleaning due to the oil on the filter.

I used brake cleaner and it's been fine. I do it on every oil change too.
