The point on valve springs is valid..Your VS could easily be binding up due to a weak spring and this could easliy be on one valve or a couple due to higher lift..this would also account for some folks having no issues...and go in line with TTP and the bent valve idea.... (same sort of prob).. I would think your going to need to take this apart and look everything over it sounds like... you seem to have looked at everything else..Regards,

I believe this too, but cosworth recommends retainers and springs. I think you can run a while with stock, but the longevity of the engine could be an issue. A $400 dollar part could be worth it in the long run.
However, I heard that you have to take the head off to do the valve springs and retainers... I'm not sure not that smart with that issue.... anyone?

Pulling the head off isn't that hard. It's just expensive to get a shop to do it. Just pull the head off, get a large C clamp, and a deep socket. Put the socket on the retainer and the clamp on the socket and the head of the valve, then start tightening. Then the spring compresses without pushing down the valve and the locks should pop out. Then just do that 15 more times.
