F-450 Turbo slapped on a turbo?!!
I was reading this one add on Cycle World, last page issue October 2007.
They have a picture of the F-450 and a picture of the turbo on a turbo....!!!
Can anyone give more details on this? I dont see how this is a good thing, wont the hot air just ruin the hp?
Here is the quotes from the add:
Even the Turbocharger has a turbochager.
Only on the all-new 6.4 Power Stroke Diesel engine. The first turbo gets things moving off the line. The secong keeps things moving at higher speeds. Together, they means power. Anytime. All the time. Like the power to tow up to 23.500 pounds. That's more than any other pickup in America.
Thanks
Reggie

Its essentially the same set up at third gen rx7s. Its called a feeder turbo. Its a sequntial turbo set up. The first turbo is small, and makes good low end torque, and once you get above a certain speed/boost/load level it uses the boost the smaller one has already made to spool the larger on. Small turbo spools up and makes more torque and then feeds the larger turbo once things get really going.

O!
but wont it heat up more?
that big engine combined with a turbo = heat plus add another turbo ON a turbo....insane!
wats better? supra style TT or F-450 style TT? I'm new to the F-450 setup so kinda excited to see this. I'm trying to get more tech details etc but nothing so far.

Diesel's can handle more heat in the combustion chamber. What do you think makes them go. Heat and compression make the diesel fuel burn, glow plugs just help it start, no spark plugs. Its kinda like rc nitro cars.
