Its an old thread but still posting..

My 03 Evo8 is suffering from the same low idling and dieing issue. Checked the Idle stepper motor. I adjusted the biss screw the idle was fine but the idle stepper motor getting heated up really bad. A few members suggesting to remove stepper motor.
Is it normal that idle stepper motor gets heated up that bad ? i checked the motor attaching a thermometer and it actually showed 55C after a couple of minutes of idle.

What to do ?

Yea so the bracket on the intake manifold is not for idle adjustment... it's for cable slack. Also, there is a phillips hard idle adjustment screw on the throttle body...

How hot does it get? Its a servo coil and is designed to handle extreme temperatures. If it looks normal when removed then the idle problem could be from something else, like a diverter valve
