2.0 or 2.3 better?

I've made this comparison before:
The 2.0 can rev to around 9k "safely", but the 2.3 spools the turbo 500 revs faster. But it can't go as high as the 2.0. I think to around 8k. Some turbos (eg. GT35R) don't make significant power until in the high revs, so it's an obvious choice for drag. Auto-x on the other hand demands torque early on and the 2.3 is a must for large, laggy turbos when a quick spool is vital for decent times.
I still haven't decided what I'll do whenever I rebuild mine. Leaning towards 2.0, because it is more reliable from what I've gathered.

my .02 is to have a built 2.0L with a smaller turbo such as the green or an HTA3065. This would give you all the torque for the street as well as Hp for the drag strip as well. This setup should have the ability to put you in the mid to low 10's aswell.

well i allready have the ets 61mm so I am going to be using that. If the only real benifit t ousing the 2.3 is spooling 500 rpm sooner vs reving 2000rpm more with the 2.0, it seems that the 2.0 is better. ?

i mean its awesome to be like yeah its a 2.3 liter but if it really only is increasing spool by 500 rpms then you might as well keep the 2.0 Companies are using as much technology as they can as far as the hta models and twin scroll turbos so that you can keep the 2.0 and still spool up real quick.

I think... if you run a 2.3 you probably will make more than a 100 ft/lbs more torque. AND.... your car will make more power off boost.
It's not only about spool. Plus I think 500 rpm gain in spool is a tad on the conservative side in terms of spool improvement. From a 2 litre to 2.3 I wouldn't be surprised to see 600 or maybe 700 rpm better spool all things being equal.

2.0L = more rpms
more rpms = 10.8's on a measly fpgreen
if 2.3L's were needed for the faster times im sure ams and buschur would use them on there drag cars too.

So where are all these amazing high revs that you get with a 2l coming into play? PT67 or larger maybe. GT35R or smaller... I don't think so... except for 4th gear on the drag strip to cross the line... which honestly who cares about times unless your trying to break records or something.
For most people what matters is a powerband which makes the car a joy to drive.

But I'd bet you were shifting at around 7k except for keeping it 4th to avoid shifting 5th right? So how exactly were you using the high rpms?
Even with a GT35R and a 2.2l... I think your optimum shift point would likely be around 7500 rpm.

Again, you are wrong on your statement on not needing revs on a gt35 or smaller turbo. Do some searching on the subject.
