DSM Experts - RWD Trans

Try posting on the SoCal DSM list. There are a few people on there who might be able to help out.

For example, one of the guys is running a 4g in a Suzuki Samurai rock-climber.

(search around for more info)
IIRC, John Mueller (http://www.muellerized.com/) had a '7 in the old shop a while back. I think it was the regular engine, but he may also have some ideas.

As far is RWD Evos, yes I have seen already two of them on videos, one with a V8 engine configuration(obviously it wouldn't work for this aplication). Remember something though, having a 4G63 transversally mounted doesn't help much either..

I believe he is speaking of mounting the engine longitudinally instead of transversely, and adapting an alternate o.e. or aftermarket trans.
To the o.p. You can get an adapter for a GM bellhousing from Buschur, but from there you are limited to autos and torque converters as far as I know. I havent looked into anything for a manual trans yet, as I have been thinking of making my dsm rwd using a trans that was actually in Buschurs conquest at one point and time. However if you find out anything on a manual I would like to know as Im looking into buliding an altered roadster that I would ultimately like to use a lenco or g force type trans. Perhaps you should actually pm david so we can have both our questions answered lol

How about the old school DSMs, the Starion/ Conquest blocks? RWD and a turbo 2.4 liter 4 banger. I think a better option would be the Nissan SR20DET. Made for RWD with more upgrade options and easier/ cheaper to make power.

I actually have been in contact with someone manufacturing a bellhousing to bolt up to an older 4G63 to a T56 manual, I was also told he was working on an evo version. Originally he was going to use a Supra 6 speed and had made a few bellhousings for it, but later started on the one for a T56.
Piecing together a clutch/flywheel is actually not as hard as it seems since you can call any reputable clutch manufacturer and they can match the components you need.
I will try to find the guys website so you all can throw a message or two his way to show there is a demand for these components.
I do know of one person who used a buschur adapter plate to mate up a GM Bellhousing with a T56, but never got word on what he used for a clutch setup.

Okay, this is a quote from Bill, the guy working on the bellhousing, He is looking for a few dimensions that I can't provide since I have all of my "junk" packed up for my move to Dallas.. Not sure if its coincidence and good timing, or someone passed word along that I made a reference to him before I was able to send him an e-mail, BUT if anyone has the info he's looking for, PM me and I'll forward it along, or get you in touch with him directly (Not sure if he's okay with giving out his e-mail addy in a public forum, I know I generally don't like it)
I just sold my Datsun to a neighbor so my RWD project is on hold until I'm settled down in TX.
I still plan on buying an adapter when their available as I'll find something cool to put an evo engine into.
and a few photos... (sorry a few were too large to upload, just wanted to show there was real work going on)
work is coming together on the T 56 project for the 4G63, all this work will transfer over to the EVO, I have the pattern for the bolt pattern but I need a few demensions for the EVO engine, such as, how far does the crankshaft extend from the engine block? how far does the starter extend up from the engine block? and what is the diameter of the starter facing?
Thanks
Bill
Thanks
Bill
