Buschur's new tires/wheels, going for a new best ET/MPH
#22
I have refused to run a slick on the car or a drag tire because I refused to get rid of the stock EVO brakes. To me, an EVO with tiny brakes on it just isn't an EVO anymore. The EVO's handling and braking is what really stands out when they are stock and I want to use more car for more than just drag racing.
From an EVOm member I learned about CCW and some custom wheels they had that would fit with the stock calipers/brakes. I called CCW, spoke with John and he got the wheels built and shipped to me in time for this coming Sunday, which is our last chance to run for the year.
The wheels weigh it at 17.5 pounds, which are about 2 pounds heavier than my SSR's but with the Hoosier 26x9.5x16 tire the total weight comes in about 5 pounds lighter than the SSR's per tire/wheel. That should make a heck of a difference, not to mention the traction. I am using the DOT approved street tire on the car still and I didn't have to touch my stock calipers/rotors which makes me happy.
Here is the car with the new tires/wheels. I am in freaking love with the look personally!
Sunday, 9 am, Norwalk Raceway Park. Our black car and my RS. Hoping for one last hoorah before the long long long long long Ohio winter. 5 months with no racing after this.

I like my old wheels too VW. You probably won't see them out in the back of the buiding in the scrap pile anytime soon:P
What's next after 150 mph? Well first I have to get to 150 mph. This is asking alot from a GT35r especially one that is a complete car still.
Not sure what's next. I really like the spool/torque of the car now. I don't want to go to a larger turbo.............but I have been informed that I have one coming to me to test in the next few weeks. It would have to offer a pretty good increase in power to make me want to switch and it would have to be without much loss in spool/torque compared to what I have now.
I have some new cams to test too, probably go in our black car first and then see what happens from there.
I also have this other "secret" project I am working on for the RS right now that I am thinking will gain another solid 20 whp again.
I'd really like to see just how far I can take the 35r in a real EVO. I don't see myself every loosing the heater, seats, air bags, door beams etc in this car. I just like it too much to take it apart and tear it up.

I'll tell you, I have a twin scroll turbo at our shop right now that just got sent in for a customers car. I am extremely disapointed in it. The cost is rediculous as it came with a receipt. No wastegates, no dump tubes for the twin wastegates, the tubing diameter on the header is very small and poorly transitioned at the head flange. It was quite a suprise to see it, very disapointed. We'll see how it performs as it is a twin scroll GT40 kit and we have to install and dyno it all in the weeks to come.
I see no reason to go to a twin scroll on the 35r. I am going to do some testing over the winter, maybe if I find a housing I'll change my mind.

good luck dave with the 150 trap.. I am more concerned with seeing the black car put up some big #'s.. i hope the conditions are good for you on sunday.. I cant imagine 5 months w/o racing.. I am concerned with the black car too but with the track temps being as cold as they are going to be I don't have super high expectations for a new ET record to be set. Last week the car was nearly 90 degrees sideways in the 1st 60 feet. The RS on the other hand, with this potentially huge change in traction from the new tires, could set a new personal best ET and MPH.........
