Evo IX and BOV

I have a EVO IX and I just got a greddy type s bov and heard different things about venting into the Atmosphere or back into the piping. Is it safe to have my bov venting into the Atmosphere? Or does it need to be recirculated threw the system.

You want to recirculate since the ECU is injecting fuel for the air that it thinks is going into the engine. You will probably run very rich between shifts and when you let off the gas under boost. This tends to cause the car to hestitate, which can be annoying after a short while.

Ya, Forge actually makes a really good by-pass-valve. It wont give you as big as a "woush" but you will not suffer in performance. Also, a lot of people get the JDM MR bpv and it works beautifully.

I have a Forge evo15 DV and it holds boost like a champ, but has flutter in 4th and 5th gear under partial throttle. Probably going to pick up a 9 DV.

Is a stock MR BOV just as good as the JDM BOV? and is it better than the Greddy?

I had the HKS BOV and couldn't stand how the car would bog down at the light so I sold it and put the IX DV back on and couldn't be happier.

Your IX comes with the same DV/BOV as the JDM evos. I had one on my VIII, but was having idle issues with it suprisingly. I changed it out for the non-adjustable forge DV and its fine, but it does flutter under partial throttle. I want to try a IX DV again with my new tune. Either that, an APS, or Go Fast Bits/GFB DV.

What issues did you have with it? I am running an IX valve on my VIII. The stock IX valve is very good. VTA valves are pointless and stupid unless you are running a significantly larger turbo.
For what it's worth, I have had a Type S, it's no longer on my car. You don't need an upgraded valve. I don't know why you bought one.
