You are a little more flexible with the fluids you can use in the tranny. I would never use anything but Diaqueen in the TC and Diff though

Ive used Pensoil Syncromesh in my VIII Tranny for 90k (Original Trans No Grinds) and her VIII RS Tranny for almost 60k (Original Trans No Grinds) and both shift 100% great. I do change it out every 10k max though

Mobil one barely meet the viscosity before a 20hr test - then it failed.

hmmm...that could be the cause of my tranny shift to 4th grinding synchros at high RPMS. it could also be the cause of my output and input bearins making noise.! ahhh! well, time to get that thing rebuilt!

First generation DSMs used the same engine, a different transmission and transfer case, same drive shaft, same rear differential and their suspensions are simular in design. So, if you have experience with DSMs a lot of that knowledge transfers to the Evo world. DSMs are where several of the better racing shops got their start. To a 1st generation DSM owner the Evo seems like a better DSM.

One thing that most 1st generation DSM owners got to experience was the very crummy manual transmissions these cars came with. Every possible lube or mixture was experimented with and that information was shared on the web. This including Mobil 1 gear lube. Mobil 1 gear lube didn't have many fans.
