Mark Daddio has driven my car with the TRE and his Evo had the Cusco. He said the Cusco was a better diff. Better in that he could more easily throttle oversteer out of corners. AMS sells the cusco for 1299. There is also a carbonetics for 1399. Mark also felt that the cusco would be more durable.

I don't know for sure about the Cusco, so I'm statng this as a question... I was to the understanding that the Cusco was NOT the entire rear dif carrier, but only the internal differential it's self. Therefore you would hardly get anything for the used one vs a complete used carrier (whole pumpkin).
I can't see the Cusco lasting any longer as it is a "race part"... they are meant to be "freshened" season to season. The TRE part is claiming to get 2-3 seasons in SCCA T2 before "inspection".
Here's some reading from TRE: http://www.teamrip.com/EVOLUTION%20R...20SERVICE.html

gotcha - was just curious since there are a few options out there
tre seems way way better in terms of cost benefit. seems at least the carbonetics one says it locks with double the lock of stock (100%) compared to 60% of the tre

thats wat i said
also, speaking with someone i have learned that there may be some improvements to the service that will be released at the end of the month....
can this thread be moved to the vendor f/s 'engine internals and drivetrain' or 'suspension/brakes/handling' section though?

As we speak, my diff is at TRE for the 1.5 way Maxx-lock service.
Mark Daddio also commented Cusco vs. TRE and recommended the Cusco, but for $400 vs. $1300, the choice to me was obvious.
I have lots of seat time in my worn rear diff, so hopefully i'll be able to comment on this new one come spring.

so I guess you can't sell just the differential part you swap out with the cusco's then

I cannot speak from experience. I'm on stock diffs. But I have been told from track guys that Cusco has some serious quality control issues and its sort of a hit and miss thing. I would like to know if this is true or not. I heard that RRE's diff was the **** for a center diff because its adjustable with new packs??

Both Mark's and mine are 1.5 way.
Mark's evo was SM, mine BSP. I also asked him if the diff felt different because of the difference in the car (power, setup, etc.) and he said no.
I have to say that I really like the TRE. For me the price dictated the choice.
