I've never been in your situation so I really dont know if I can give good advice. But I'm thinking you don't street drive the car very often so you might as well go all the way with the weight reduction. I'm more of the 600hp street driveable full weight kinda guy BUT you're already basically just a track car. ya even went so far as to not use the stock water pump. SO I say go all the way and reduce that weight =-)

Believe me, I have a Master's degree and I know the APA, MLA styling all too well. I get tired of professors telling me how THEY want MY papers written.

Writing to me is just that, writing. Who cares how its done. I commented about it because this makes it time consuming to read on my mobile device while I have down time.

Al, the car is coming together nicely. Excuse my ignorance on intake manifolds, but which one is that you are sporting this year?

Cheers-
E

Very nice. The bracket in the picture by itself looks HUGE. I was trying to figure out what the hell that was! Keep going Al.

I started yesterday working on the chassis

I reamain undecided on how far to take the weight reduction and chassis prep

I saw Dan Bejalis 's evo at the shotout it was very much a drag car like some Honda civic gutted to the max

Its one thing to do that to a $1500 Honda Civic its another thing to mutilate a Evo which at this juncture is still a full bodied street car - I remain undecided on what path to take - we'll see how it goes
I had that tough choice myself, I decided to go all out since I decided to run Pro 4 and all my competitors were about 900lbs lighter than me. Problem I ran into was too much too fast, I didn't get to run the rest of the season. Not making the race is worse then actually loosing. so I say if you are going all out, make sure you have enough time and $ if it doesn't make sense just improve on the little things so you can actually get out there.

90% of what i read that you post is derrogatory and it gets old..

I weigh 250 and thats usually a good 80-100lbs over what the next driver weighs.. contrary to popular belief 100lbs is not always 1/10th in the 1/4..I have seen it done and tested many times over with cars that make 900whp.. i am talking dead consistent cars too with weight in and out..

so Yes it would make sense to gut the car if Al wants to run with the other race cars..

For sure! I was trying to figure out what the hell that was and decided it might be some sort of weird undertray or something; something about the angle of the pic and the way it hits the background it looks to be like 1.5' x 3', some huge piece of steel! And here it is this little tiny bracket....

Dude, I am not tiny either look-,when I used to race karts I raced against kids that were literally 50 lbs tinier when me when i was 15, they were 100 lbs I was 150 it was ridic how much of an advantage weight is in road racing vs drag, you don't only get the short end of the stick on acceleration but also on turning and braking, its rough, I know what it's like so don't take it as derogatory just honest.

It's just sad that some tuners think its more honest to be full weight or stripped. If your making a fast car, nothing else matters. Fast is Fast regardless of what is done to get there. Is it harder to make a heavier car go nearly or fast or faster than a lighter car, absolutely. Al's car is and will be fast no doubt, it's just not fair to say lightening or gutting is a cheap way out.

here again Scorke saying **** he shouldnt about other people.

just wondering, r u saying that unless u are a tiny, u cant be fast or keep up with the fastest?
its almost like saying that if one athlet weighs 150lbs and the other is 200, the 150lb athlet is garenteed to run faster because he has less weight to carry.
