Actually 1 bar = 14.503 ... hey, that 0.005 makes all the difference

btw, here's a nice site for conversions:

Mine is 1.35 bar with the apexi intake, gp sports titanium catback, tomei re-circ BOC. My downpipe and cat delete is coming in a few weeks time and i'll post a new reading if there's any improvement. I did not have a chance to get a reading when the car was stock since i just got my boost meter a couple of weeks ago.

It appears that the descrepancies must be due to calibration issues. Any other ideas?

Anyone have any explanation to why there's such a variation among the stock evos?

Ok! I turned up the boost up 50% using my Blitz Spec R EVC. I got a peak boost at 1.24. Why do we need to turn up the boost when the stock is suppose to be higher than that?

sounds like you have a boost leak. Your turbo may be pushing 25psi while your guage only registers 16 or 17 psi or so. That means the excess air is being lost before it gets to the intake manifold.

Just to keep this thread alive, I hit 1.35 bar at 3800 rpm. Around 1.2 bar at redline.

Hopefully I can get the sbc id hooked up this weekend...

Completely stock car. 1st and 2nd gear I get 1.35bar. 3rd and 4th gear I can hit 1.4 bar on a regular basis. Here's where it gets weird. 5th gear if I drop the hammer at around 4k rpm I get almost 1.5 bar.

How do you detect boost leak?

I don't think this is weird. Your description is very informative: peak boost varies according to gears. Higher load on the engine means you'll see higher peak boost, given all other things equal.

I'm still breaking in mine so I can't really vouch the numbers you just described, but have a friend who observed exactly the same numbers as yours.

BTW would be very informative for everyone to disclose:
Gear
Boost peak
Boost held

Peaking at 1.5bar tapering to 0.9bar at redline is VERY different from holding 1.5bar all the way to redline.

Also, IMHO the variations *could* partly be due to the MEASURING device. For e.g. I have heard numerous posts that say Defi boost gauges are over-optimistic on the boost readings. That is, a 1.5bar displayed on the Defi could be registered 1.35bar on a Blitz EBC digital read-out, or a diagnostics device (SECS).

Which number do you take? Personally I'd lean more towards readings off a diagnostics device, so numbers in Defi is a bit off.

All of above IMHO. Open for discussion but please don't flame
