You did an absolutely fantastic OEM looking job on this. I would DEFINITELY hire you to do mods for me. It's not often I let people tinker with my car if ever.

Two thumbs up from me!!

Cheers-
E

Wow thank you!

I am happy that you all like it.

The fan is also thin enough to where it fits in the fender well and you can still put the plastic covering back over it with no problems. It is also just small enough to not get in the way of the metal oil cooler support bracket that you can see in the pic.

Again thank you for the positive feedback. I will put a how-to as soon as I can.

Tyler

the fan is sucking the air right and not blowing at it right ?. base on the pix it looks like you have it blowing against the air passing through from the front

Yep, the air is being "sucked" in. It is a puller fan meaning that it is sucking air through the oil cooler. So even when your moving at higher speeds the fan is not fighting the incoming air.

It works similar to the stock fan that is on the inside of the engine bay. That is a puller type fan also.

With the fan on during normal driving conditions the temps are now 195 instead of 210. You don't want to overcool the oil which is why there is a thermostat. I believe anything around 190-205 is optimal oil temp.

When I get off the highway, the temps are usually around 230-240. The fan cools the oil down much quicker also.

Its a cheap mod that helps, I think.
I did this but with the front mount on my DSM to blow on the radiator when i sit still because i could not fit the dual stock fans on there and had a 10" spal fan.

It really helps in the summer to pull air before a auto X run.

Must be the stock gauge does not work at all then cause most of the winter i don't even see 50C on the gauge.

Summer i might get to 75C-80C on a auto cross.

nice mod. off topic, so please pm me if you'd like, how do you have the ipod going to your stock headunit? is it a wireless FM modulator or were you able to find some better connection?

Thanks again.

That little gadget you see there is a wireless FM modulator. You plug it into a 12v source (like the cigarette lighter) and then program it and your radio to an empty frequency. From my experience, it is difficult to use in big cities because almost every frequency is taken.
