I have not made a how-to mainly because I don't really think it is necessary. All of the stuff provided should do the trick for most of you.

By the way, has anyone else done it yet? I have had a few people email me about it...

my 1988 mitsu galant sigma has similar oil cooler fan but it came with it stock and turn on together with the rest of the fan. you can actually wire it with a relay to turn on everytime your rad fan turns on, that way you don't need switches.

Really? I thought only porsche's and rear engine mounted cars came with oil cooler fans.
Damn I could have ordered that thing from the dealer then.

Got any pictures of it? Is it a puller type fan? How many cfms does it generate?

Thas is a good idea and you could even go a step further with a progress controller. You could program a controller to come on at certain temps from a temp sensor you have installed of the oil filter housing. All you would need to know is what voltage from the temp sensor corresponds to what temperature. And with the right controller you could even do a low speed/high speed configuration. It is rather simple and I have done it before on a uphill class car. The only thing I would recommend, with space permitting, is to build a small shroud for that fan to really take advantage of the fans pulling power. Surface mounting fans like that tend to just swirl hot air on the face of the radiator and not do a whole lot.

Good job to the original poster .

i'll take pic of it. here it is. it is difficult to get a good pic as it is embedded inside the front bumper. I think the diamante and the 3Kgt VR4 as well as most mitsu SUV have this fan oem.

Very interesting.

Well if some vehicles come with it from the get go, those factory engineers must have thought it was needed and would help.

a How-to would be great for those of us that are electrically challenged.

Alright, I will try to remember everything that went into it although it was a lot easier than I expected.

Might take me a few days...

Interesting - do you have data logs on push vs. pull systems for roadcourse or auto-x? I'm asking as an interested party, not as a skeptic...

Good Idea on the fan.

I need to do this myself, Here in Vegas you always get stuck in traffic jams during the hottest part of the day. Oil gets screaming hot! But yah the road can get hot enough to melt your shoes.
