mivec head

I have a question for everyone out there i was reading in my turbo mag this month there doing a test and tune on a IX and in stock form it was 38whp faster than the viii Im assuming it the mivec head my question is, can the 8s be made somehow to accept the mivec head or is it a long prossess which isnt worth the effort?

note im new to the evo community and its interesting they say its a noticible difference in spool between 8&9. If im beeting a dead horse please post where i can find it thanx

the mivec used an oil control valve and is controled by the ecu so, i would say it would be a hassel and more profitable to get some bolt ons to make up the power diff other than that it to me would just be one more thing to break and worry about.

Yes you can put a mivec head on a non 4g63 block like the one in the evo 8, it's just requires a few sourced parts and a weekend depending how mechanically inclined you are. It's not a cheap thing to do as the mivec head and the required hardware is not that easy to come by.

Do some more searching, their are a few threads with discuss this topic and a few who have actually done this for their own use.

Although a stock mivec evo will likely put down more hp than the non mivec cars. the non mivec cars can run more agressive cams (for now) which ultimately can net them more hp.
