Well....here in Cali we had some pretty decent rains over the weekend. Basically on the freeway we had large puddles of water and of course a bunch of idiots driving company cars like A$$holes spitting up all kinds of crap.

Well the other day when I started the car I noticed a loud cycling squeaking noise from the passenger side engine compartment.

It sounds like a squeaky pulley/belt. So I figured no big deal, once it dries the noise will go away. Well after warmed up the noise does go away, but everytime I start the car now it still makes the noise even though we didn't have rain the other day. So I am wondering if anyone else has had squeaky belts/pulleys this early on?

I have had the car for 1 year and 10K miles. I have owned many other cars and none of them made this noise this early on. Is it just the tensioner or the guides? I have heard other folks with the same noise, but they choose to ignore it. I am super particular about my cars and super paranoid as well.


It comes on in 1 second intervals and sounds like a small bird chirping "eeet...eeeet.....eeet.....eeeet....eeet":crap :

I do have a modded car, but I am almost positive none of them have anything to do with this noise.

There was a thread here the other day that may be the answer. Search for timing belt hitting crank sensor.

I have the same type of noise, although sound is hard to describe over the internet. Take a video if you can.

My noise only happens when its cold out when I first start her up.

I think I have the same noise you're referring to. I just ticked over 16k miles (stock everything). Did you ever get it resolved?
