ACD transfer case in Non ACD Evo?

Is this possible? I don't care about acd working. If you don't know 1st hand if it works please refrain from commenting.

you'll have to have a new wiring harness, and alot of extra work for what its worth.

your going to need alot but yes it will work if you have "ALL" the parts not just the acd xfercase, you'll need acd pump, acd ecu, wiring harness that works with the acd ecu, all the acd lines. acd switch to change settings, and the gauge cluster if you want it to be visible which setting its in.

they have a 03 for 800 I saw in the FS threads, it sure it will work, if you just want it to replace it and work mechanically just cap off the lines. I'm using a 03 xfercase on this evo 9 engine and never had any issue's

yeah, there are more low mile acd transfercases out there.

Thats why i'm asking. I don't give two ****s about the selector. as long as i can still get a 50/50 and get power down

Question

Yeah, I'm pretty much in the same boat here. I crashed my 05 Evo 8 and now I have an 03 Evo 8, but want to still use my ACD t-case. Any help?

The helical differential is able to go into the the 03' 04' t-case but you can not run the acd unit with out the acd pump and fluid. It will cause it to spueal and also lock up causing a few issues. The helical differential works better then the 03' 04' differential so atleast that part is interchangeable. and the ring and pinion are also. You cant leave acd to just spin with no fluid it will lock up.

Well ok then. i'm basically transplanting the 05 INTO the 03, so i'm assuming that i can transfer the pump, etc. Any ideas?

ACD needs the pump power and ecu it wont work mechanically you might have fullt-ime 50/50 and if you do it's useless

I guess what I'm trying to accomplish is a full swap of an o5 Evo 8 into the shell of an 03 Evo 8.

This brings up a good point. Can you elaborate on why it would lock up being that the acd is just a hydraulic actuator and has nothing to do with the spinning parts.

ACD is a spinning hydralic clutch pack and can change the the split of power itshas to run on with that hydralic pump in order to do so. This is why the ACD works wih better traction and handling in the snow gravel and tarmac. This is also why the ACD MUST BE BLEED if you ever pull the line while installing a clutch. If not the ACD lights will come on with a code in the system telling you a problem.
