Maximum degree on the EVO IX exhaust cam!
Hi All,
I just found on my setup with GSC S1s some extra HP/TQ by playing with the degrees in the exhaust cam. Stock valve train. Posted the info on the GSC forum!
For those with more experience on evos.... What has been the maximum retard/advance you have seen in the IX?
I do not rev the car past the 7900 RPMs!

When I first bought the cams, I was hesitant to buy the adjustable cam gear because people were telling me that most of the cams are meant to be set at 0.
However, tolerances in the timing belt, the cam gears and the cam itself can set the cam 1 or 2 degrees off. And, adjusting it can lead to a better alignment with the crank and the intake cam as well.
Every car is different and I think that finding the right degree (if not in 0) is a matter of trial and error in most cases. I use a dyno to find the right spot!
Believe me, a small change in the exhaust cam made a huge difference on the road.
