drop-in build @ 70k+ miles?

drop-in build @ 70k+ miles?
so what do you guys think? i think there might be something wrong with the engine and if so, is this a good idea? if not, should i change it out anyways? other options are available..i know such as taking out the engine and sending out the block to get it refinished. i want to drop in some wiseco pistons and eagle rods. @ 70k, do you think the rod journals are still good for new bearings? what about the cylinder walls? good for new pistons? i've beat on the car since day one...but also maintained it very very well. except for the leaky HG i have now.

it would be safe to say that you will have to check the cylinder walls prior to installing new pistons and rings, and also check the crank for run out for the rods, and main bearings. as far as just a "drop in" i would say no for myself, however, some people may have done this type of upgrade with no adverse reactions.

so it is safe...if the block is in specs..yes. i got all tools to measure everything. cylinder bores to crank journals...but recommended?

or just take it to a machine shop, that will save you a ton of money over shipping a motor to have it looked at. As long as your block is in spec the drop in stuff will be fine, if you are doing it your self make sure you know what your doing, it will be cheaper to get it done right the first time then to make a mistake and have to do it a second. good luck

i just did the drop in last month i put wiesco pistons and manley rods in. i had the block sent to a local shop for honing and to have it decked. i have now run it for a few weeks and its running strong so far, good compression and all. i have 70k on the stock setup when i did this.

pull the motor dont do it half *** by pulling the head off and dropping in pistons and rods..even if you decide to hone in the car..still brakleen doesnt clean nearly as well as a hottank..you will probably need the crank polished and balanced too...pulling the motor isnt so bad just do it the right way once and then u wont have a headache later..
dont go to ams or buschur ...there are plenty of machine shops that can do the job just the same..for ALOT CHEAPER..
