Building a trans to handle 5-600hp

My Evo 1 box has a bad 5th syncro and needs to come out, so i figure while its apart is there anything that can be done to improve the strength and shift quality? The engine is a built 2L running a GT35r with all the usual other parts, its making anywhere from 400 - 550whp depending on the tune and fuel used, i dont intend to drag race or launch the car hard or generally beat the hell out of it. From what ive been told the early trans have smaller gears than the newer age ones, this is a worry. I've just recently bought the car and the previous owner has destroyed a very expensive PPG dogbox drag racing the car, but hasnt had too many dramas with a standard box on the street .

For a start im going to get all the syncros replaced, what else is necessary?
Its easy for all of you in the US, as you can just send your trans to shep or TRE, but theres not any EVO/DSM specialists in Australia

This is our Stage 1 rebuild service for the Mitsubishi EVOLUTION 5 speed. It is the bare minimum of what we offer. This rebuild receives all current Technical Service Bulletins updates that are available from Mitsubishi and we use updated part numbers where applicable. Your transmission will receive modifications to improve oiling to critical parts and machine work that improve shift quality and increase the service life of the transmission. If you're wanting an excellent shifting transmission that has proven itself to live in a 9 second EVO this would the way to go, however, we can build them even better so check out our other rebuild stages. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
