Question Evo IX Stock piston, 2 or 3 piston rings??

Hey...

I was watching the best motoring video about the EVO 9... In an interview with some Japanese Mitsubishi tech representative, the guy said that the EVO 9 used 2 piston rings instead of 3 in the EVO 8.

I didn't really find any valuable information online or on the forums, so I was wondering if anyone of you which ever saw a stock evo 9 piston, could post up a picture for me and confirm that it has only 2 rings?

I figured out that maybe he meant 2 piston rings +1 oil ring, but then, according to the interview that would mean the EVO 8 has 3 piston rings +1 oil ring = 4, which I highly doubt...

Thanks a lot.

If It wasn't so early I would take pictures of evo8 and evo IX pistons that I have laying around and I am quite sure that you won't be able to tell me which one is which?

this is old news! it relates to the oil ring not piston ring per se. the evo 8 has a 3-piece oil ring while the evo 9 has a 2 piece oil ring
