Thumbs down EVO STARTING PROBLEM.....(electrical)

I'm helping a friend troubleshoot a problem on his 2004 EVO and I'm stumped.

Heres the problem.

One day the cars windshield wipers would just come on for no reason.
A few days later it wouldn't start... not even crank over. The car started with a clutch dump so we know the fuel pump, ignition, ect is working.

Most of the time the car will crank but will not start. Once the car started and drove but after he got home and turned the car off but it remained running! Lately the dash lights will remain dimly lit even after the keys are removed from the car.

I'm working on finding a spare ECU and underhood relays but I would like suggestions on where to start. Thanks in advance.

Get a mouse\rat tearing into in the wiring harness under the hood\front deck\car? Definitely look into the wiring of the car if nothing else was done that could have caused this issue.

sounds like it *may* be a bad key cylinder. or perhaps the harness to it is loose. ive ran into similar issues with a galant and a cherokee i've worked on at the shop

I think I read something similar happening to someone else's car over here. It ended up being water corroding the connectors/harnesses on the left wall of driver's side. I won't hurt to take a look at those as that problem has happened a few times

I just had problems with my car starting. The starter would engage, but it wouldnt turn over the engine. I unplugged my turbo timer and alarm and the car has been fine for the past 24 hours. It starts everytime first time now. If you have an alarm the starter interupt relay could be bad. Replace the relay and see if that fixes the problem.
