evo 9 turbo in evo 8 and evo 8 turbo in evo 9????
ok guys heres the deal...my buddy is having to get rid of his 06 IX for reasons with work and my after disscusing with him he is going to allow me to swap a few things over ie. headlights, tails, sterring wheel, carbon dash piece.... Then I thought about swapping out the turbos. Why not right?? its getting traded in anyways.. well my question is will I be able to just swap everything from his car into mine and vise versa or will I need to get anything else for the swap?? I did some searching and found some people were saying they had to bend the oil and coolant lines which is no big deal and then some were saying they need to buy something else...If I have both cars there and do the swap same day I shouldn't need anything correct??? also what other parts do you guys suggest swapping??? Thanks for the help....

Even $150 for the "install kit" is a rip-off. It can be purchased from MitsubishiParts.net for about $80 shipped. If you dont want to bend the stock lines, here's everything you need:

Why don't you just buy his IX and sell your VIII? Crap like this is why I would never buy a used Evo.
BTW, if your friend sells his car as a "stock" IX after doing this, he's technically committing fraud. If the dealer is smart they'll look the car over and offer him the value of the car minus the cost of all the parts and labor it would take to bring it back to stock. If he's selling it privately, he may end up getting a court summons before too long.

I'm waiting for the thread of the guy that buys that Evo... "My IX is much slower than my friends... Why?!"
Yes you can do it and if your friend is game and the dealership will obviously not be able to tell why not. I tried to do the same thing at the Toyota dealership I worked at. We had a VIII get traded in and it had a Vishnu 550 turbo kit along with cams, meth, etc. They legally couldn't sell the car as it was because it won't pass emissions, so I tried to get them to swap the parts from my car to that one and vice versa, but it was going to auction... . Congrats and have fun with the IX turbo.

The sad thing is that they won't. Unless its another mitsu dealership they won't be able to tell the size difference between an VIII and a IX turbo. They'll check to make sure it has a turbo and thats it (along with anyother checks they may do). If they do discover anything it'll be found after the deal is done and then theres very little the dealership can do.

I do not plan to swap the heads..thats just too much work and way to obvious. The turbo however they will not be able to tell and will be a very nice upgrade for me. Most of these people at dealerships are retards anyways..the last car we traded in of his had so much parts missing off of it it was crazy and they still gave him everything he owed for it.
