should i bother with UICP?

You can see my mods in my signature and my dyno results. I have an Evo 9 BOV that needs to be put in and the short shifter here is well...but waiting for the weather to cooperate.

Anyways, I noticed my fan is rubbing on the flexible portion of uicp....and considered putting some injen uicp in. Will I see anything off the upper piping...from what I read...probably not...but just hoping for some more opinions and what have you.

thanks

Zero gains and maybe a little throttle response. Definitely dresses up the engine bay a little.

i say get the uicp, but if it is all tight together the stock should not be touching the fan shroud, tight it up

I only upgraded my UICP because I'm putting in a larger turbo. Otherwise you'll feel no diffrence if you're on the stock turbo. I had my stock UICP coupler rubbing on the radiator fan, just like you, so I put extra washers under the bolt to give it more room.

gotcha, i was looking for dressing it up. Was gonna get injen piping for the uicp. $125 shipped for both...maybe i should put my money elsewhere then......maybe a hard pipe for the intake....

but dressing it up would be nice

Just the rubbing today I noticed was bothersome....

I wanted to do the same thing--kind of give the engine bay a little class without the bling--had my stock UICP powercoated and that worked.

I saw no gains with the UICP but I was doing a mini battery so it made sense to do it anyway.

guess it was good i asked since it seems that there is no use unless you want to dress up the engine

any advice what to get next mellon. I just had the tune done like 3 weeks ago with cams and all. I have a TP but prefer not to run it. The car is a daily driver and the HFC stinks bad enough.

FMIC
ported intake manifold
ported exhaust manifold
ported 02 housing
65mm throttle body

it's time to improve the efficiency! = better pump gas power

oh and install that test pipe!, it doesn't stink unless you're sucking on the exhaust tip

Most of you are wrong on this one. First off injen piping is just terrible. If you are going to do an uicp do a short route and a battery relocation. The only thing that is going to do for you is transfer some weight to the back with the battery but for the uicp it gives you a little more response. You don't just need to do this for a larger turbo. Another benefit from this is that the stock flexible couplers pop off very easy so this will eliminate that. Also the bling factor makes a difference. Mini batteries are nice and save some weight but they die after a year.

I don't recommend a ported intake manifold and throttle body on a bolt on car. The install is not worth the gains. If you have nothing else to do other than a turbo upgrade then maybe.
