revmoto, you seem ignorant, I can say that since you have insulted me already. I have tested the AMS knock off intercooler and the large Ebay intercooler everyone uses, both of them suck. If you'd like to read the testing results you can find it on our website in the forums. I am sure you do not though as you have yourself convinced it's good. The only people who actually think that are the ones who bought it and haven't tested it or compared it to a good intercooler.
If you think buying all of our stuff from China is good for the economy you are dumber than you appear. Have you looked at this countries overall condition lately? You really think closing tons of factories and shipping all of our work to Mexico and China has helped us out. You have to be the dumbest ******* I have had to carry on any type of conversation with, ever.
Also, let me assure you that people in China aren't buying EVO's and developing parts. They are copying parts made by other people.
I have been working on 4g63's since 1989, in case you don't know that's the engine that has been in the EVO's since the EVO1.
Useless, absolutely USELESS input you had. You wanna race? I'll show you what superior parts look like, bring binoculars though, you'll need them because I am going to be WAY out front.
I HOPE that whatever it is you do for a living is Mexican or Chinese worker over seas and if you are welfare I hope they give that to one of them too.
You hit a nerve.

David is right, sorry rev you lost this arguement! Save up, and buy a good intercooler that dosen't suck. If you cant afford it, sell your car and buy something lame. Like a Escort.

My intercooler sucks huh? Sucks so much thats why I will own any time your car produces. Keep nut swinging pal. I have already dumped **** loads of money in a car. Not going to do that again. My motor alone was worth the same price as my car. Don't talk **** unless you alone test parts.

Rev, I was contacted by a vendor about producing my modified intake in China. There is no way in hell I would do that. I have seen many times the result first hand of their quality products. Ask any aircraft mechanic about counterfit fastners a few years back. Bolts that stretch or break when torqued to spec. they made their way into some race cars with tragic results. Helmets are another product that have made there way here complete with cert stickers inside. Just like the intercoolers yes they may or may not work, but for how long and when there is a problem where do you go? Just some food for thought.

As much as I agree w/ you on most everything Rev, I disagree here, b/c our National debt has been a long time coming, not just cause of the Bush administration or "this war". It was there before he was here and has been for years. The finger should not be pointed at just one person, thats neither here nor there, cause this thread is about intercoolers. Just threw that in there though.

Its simply saving a buck! We get "some" not pointing any fingers but some evo owners that are like the majority of the ricers, they **** on there own friends to save a buck ! I had personaly had a "friend" pretend to be in the military in iraq to get a catback exhaust $20 cheaper from another vendor just to find out it didnt include shipping! I was even going to install it for free! "Whats cheap and fast ISNT reliable! "
All this just to make 3 whp... Going cheap on the evo leads to one thing PROBLEMS, like INDY EVO points out... Sure it may never ever crack or fail but what if you go out for your first road course day and you get too heat soaked cause its cant cool properly then... BOOM! Your toast, happens all the time from going cheap on other items like coilovers or alky kits with improper failsafes.
To have an opinion about it being a good intercooler for cheaper is fine but to call David out on "ripping people off" IS not cool! He and many others are trying to make true power that lasts all day at the track.

I'm attempting to stay out of this.. but here we go....
Whats going to break on an intercooler.... Nothing... As long as it doesn't leak it works... I made 438 with this intercooler exhaust intake meth and intake... I'd say my $1000 was well spent...
When youre going for records the best will get those records.... If I was shooting for 500+ i would upgrade. Fact of the matter is when i built my car i had my ebay intercooler on it and borrowed an ets 4" to see if i can make more power. I made a little more power but i couldnt justify the cost for what i do with the car. In 1/4 mile i doubt ill see any power loss =-)
E-bay intercoolers aren't for everyone... You get what you pay for is true.. The fitment isn't the greatest but it does Fit. You might get a couple bent fins, but they're easily repairable. It wasn't long ago I was only a consumer, he'll i still am.. I sell what three parts lol..... I had to consider lets say the name brand is better, how much better is it? I can tackle an install no problems, so that wasnt going to hold me back... Thats the only thing that had me wondering if i should purchase it.
Cheers!

I dont think Rev is talking about people who are going out racing. I'm sure there are plenty of Evo owners here who just want a fun street car. Is the extra 5-10whp gonna make that big of a difference to them? Not particularly. But I'm sure that extra 5-600$ out of their pocket does.
Not trying to get in the middle of a pissing match or flame war, but one more thought to enter in the discussion. What if my local shop doesnt carry parts from the big vendors that I want? He might carry other brands however, just not "insert popular vendor part here" parts. Am I not pissing on him by ordering online and bypassing money that could go to his shop, and help keep him up and running and tuning evo's? Thats the reason I went with the intercooler I did. Sure I coulda got it cheaper online, but I wanted to throw my shop a bone. And for the people who will want to jump on my case about "quality name brand parts only" bull, there are AMS and BR parts on my car too. I don't race, I'm not trying to break pump gas records, I'm one of those people where the cheapo FMIC will be just fine for my needs. That 600$ I saved, was better spent on the clutch purchased from a supporting vendor.
