TRE drivetrain fluid recheck recommendation
From the TRE site:
EVOLUTION OWNERS TAKE NOTE: It is of utmost importance that the transmission oil be checked again due to the oiling circuit for the front differential. You must to drive the car a few miles at speeds over 25mph to fill the front differential housing and then top of(f) the transmission oil level.
TRE also recommends doing the same after t-case and rear diff fluid changes.
Do any of you do this? I changed my tranny fluid yesterday and I just filled it up till there was some overflow out of the fill port and immediately replaced the fill bolt. I figured the slight amount of extra fluid would cover any need to top off the fluid.
I used straight Redline MT-90 in the tranny if anyone was wondering.

Cool beans. I figured a little excess wouldn't hurt.
Oh I found a good deal on MT-90. It was $34 shipped for 3 quarts. Got a nice sticker too. Lol. They also carry MTL.

The procedure that I recommend is commonly called a "wet check" and it is intended from keeping some folks from overfilling things with too much oil.
We all know a little extra is good but sometimes people will overdue it because they are only going my the mindset that more oil is better. If you overfill the drivetrain with too much oil it can have a detrimental effect. Too much oil can lead to the oil getting whipped into a froth and it doesn't lubricate all that well and can ultimately lead to overheating and other problems such as the oil barfing out the breather vent.
Another example: Redline Shockproof is a kick a$$ oil for the transfer case but it's so tenacious that it will cling to the inside of the case and so well that the actual oil level in the transfer case might be too low to allow enough oil to get scooped up by the ring gear to keep the ring and pinion happy.
Basically... add a little extra. Just don't overfill things too much and you'll be fine.
On a side note, I'm taking a much needed vacation.

I know I'm resurrecting a very old thread but why can't you just fill it to what you know is the full capacity of the transmission which is 3 quarts?
I realize that that all the fluid will not drain but that can be the "little extra" people are talking about filling it up with
