why wont it move

i just had some motor work done and ran into a problem like always. i had my mechanic install some cams for me hks 272 to be specific. now for some reason when he goes to do his crank checks it will rotate one time and then get stuck. he pulled off the cam and said the dial pin was pushed into the cam due to missalignment. he is saying that the intake cam is not rotating. is that even true? can the dowl pin stop the cam from moving. what else can it be. put stock cams back in for the time being and worked fine. please help out

It may be possible that the cam is off 180 degrees.

you should run up to stage 6 and talk to some of the guys while they're up there today, there's about 10 evos up there and a whole bunch of evo expertise if you hustle.

If the cam wont move--the valves are coming in contact with the piston and something is way out of synq.

i figured that but my i put stock cams back in and they rotate perfectly. could it be due to timing portion. would it be on a different stroke then exhaust cam?

i had the same thing happen to me when i did my cams ... i ended up changing my cam gear bc the pin missed the hole and putting a dent inside the cam gear. The camshaft pin also slide into the camshaft it self.... i was able to drill and pull it out tho. the cam will rotate free of the gear some bc there is no oil pressure to hold the cam gear in place. But mine did not get stuck that says a cam is 180 out or something

cam

so your problem was you dented your cam gear. i did the same thing. after you replaced the gear did the cam rotate just fine? what exactly does that intake cam gear do. is that the mivec system?

yes that is the mivec system thats how vvt works ...but you need to make sure you have the cam in the correct place aslo and not 180 out
