My NAPA has a machine shop here I just assumed others would as well

I don't know why your so offended these guys are basically going to position a crank in a lathe and have a computer do the work. Pay NAPA or some other machine shop its all the same in my eyes.

Grinding Cranks is a very accepted practice... mare than that.. it is the norm.. just like re-grinding a cam to a different profile.

Don't short cut this build/fix. If you do you will greatly regret it both financially and the time you waste.

Do not turn the crank, do not re-use those stock rods, there is an entire list of DO NOTS, miss one of them and you'll be doing it all again.

4G63 cranks have a factory nitride coating which gives them their strength. Turning the crank takes away this coating, which is why I don't believe in turning these cranks. This isn't a small block Chevrolet. Find another crank, and rebuild the bottom end. If money is tight, don't do it anything with it at all untill the funds are available to do it right.

Curious to know what happens when you dont

You obviously build a lot more motors then most anyone here so I figure your advice will be gold.
