The lifters I have r supposed to get rid of the ticking and they did before the oil change. Ill try and take out some oil but need some insight on how to do it without taking the plug out if its possible....

If you knew everything about the RSX motor, then you would know how to change the oil on your car/any car. Yes the drain plug (a bolt) is on the bottom of the motor on the passenger side. It is a 17mm bolt affixed to your oil pan. It is inline with your drive shafts. Buy an oil drain pan from auto zone, a jack and two jackstands and drain that sucker. Take the container back to autozone and drain the oil. I honestly bet you are fine. My engine ticks cold (85,000mi) and at idle, don't worry too much about it.

tips for a proper oil change.
make shure the car has ben warmed up
1.jack up passanger side of car to remove drain plug and filter
2.drop car back to level to allow oil to drain allow time to drain. this is what jiffy lube dosent do.
3. i like to turn the engine over once or twice to pump out the remaining oil in the system. DO NOT START THE CAR THOUGH. if you do this you beter have some news paper down.
4.jack car back up
5.install drain plug new washer and new mitsu oil filter
6.put car back on ground and make shure its level, with a level placed on the top of the valve cover this will insure you dip stick is acurate.
7.start with 4.5 quarts and add a little till its perfect.
i over filled once from filling it on un level ground.. never again

p.s. i like the red line oil.

No, use 10W-30 as recommended by the maker. Otherwise, your next question to the forum will be, "Why is my oil light flickering?"

it means use M1 5w/30 until the lifters are loosened and revert back to 10W/30 M1.

The oil pump is capable of putting out huge oil pressure when the engine is cold. So, going to 5W-30 over 10W-30 will change the pressure drop across the filter media and allow more dirt to accumulate in the oil filter before the bypass opens. My DSM would start ticking whenever the oil filter bypass opened and this occurred at less than 3K miles on the oil. Finally I got something stuck in one of the lifters and it wouldn't come out - time for new lifters.

On my Evo I use the Dodge Stealth oil filter - its about twice the size of the Evo filter - and I've never heard a lifter tick so far.

Jiffy Lube dont give a sh*t. There computers say our LAN EVO's take 5.5 quarts. Which is 1 quart over. They overfill. Later your seals go from overfilling. Once your seal goes oil gets on your belts and make a FD UP TICKING noise. ITS FD UP. JIFFY LUBE or any LUBE EXPRESS place is a no no.

You own a $30k performance car and you take it to Jiffy Lube, if you're not going to do it yourself at least bring it to the dealer or a shop that has employees that care what they are doing.

I worked at Monroe for a while during summer break and when I was changing oil, unless the customer specified, I was told to put 5w-30 in the car no matter what it called for, so I wouldn't be surprised if others do the same.

Seriously though, its takes 15 minutes to change your own oil, and you can bring your old oil to auto parts stores or at least in my town you can bring it to the dump.
