Question HKS EVC VI REV grid axis help

I have the HKS EVC VI installed, just trying to get a feel for the Function Map settings, Looking to set boost against REVs without the easywriter software. I see there are 5 points 1,2,3,4,5 and each of these has a REV value associated with it which can be changed.

Now i presume that 1 is start building boost, then 2 is a step leading up to it, with point 3 being peak boost point 4 where to hold it to and 5 where it tapers off to?

How wrong am i before i start to have a mess with it. I have read the instuctions and i just cant see anywhere that elaborates on what the 5 reference grid points actually pertain to
