need help on curing compressor surge
Hey guys. Just wanted to say owning an evo is better than ever imagined. I picked up my apex silver IX MR in Tampa on Tuesday and have been loving every moment. I do, however, have one major problem. I am experiencing major compressor surge under moderate acceleration. This happenly rarely in 4th, sometimes in 5th, and bad in 6th. In 6th when you moderately get on it, it can get so bad that the whole car shakes and loses power. Here is what i am currently running
06 MR
Greddy Type S BOV- did 1 spring mod today and softened up
Perrin Upper Int Pipe
Perrin TBC
Forge MBC
AEM short ram intake
Invidia down and test pipe
Walbro fuel pump
HKS TT Type 0
Exedy Clutch
ACT Flywheel
From when i first got the car until now i have been able to considerably improve the problem by doing a 1 spring mod on my BOV and softening the tension, however I'm still getting bad surge. I did notice that when i dial up my boost using the Forge, it gets worse. Is it simply that the Forge is allowing too much boost or something else? My bov isn't currently on the softest setting but about as close as possible without causing flutter. Any help would be much appreciated.

I don't know if this fixed/ improved my surge problem, but when I replaced my cams I
noticed a drastic improvement especially in 1st and 2nd gear part throttle. Maybe it
it is because I am either idling or at wide open throttle all the time now

i have noticed when i have my boost turned down it gets a bit better but you can definitely still cause it depending on how you drive... just to make sure, you go softer on the bov to cure surge right?

^^This is exactly true. When I was running the HKS Sucktion kit, I had terrible idle/compressor surge. Removed it and replaced it back to the stock airbox, and surge was gone.
