difference between 8 and 9 turbo

difference between 8 and 9 turbo

i have an evo 8 and was wondering what the difference is with the 8 & 9 turbos besides the 10.5 hotside

03/04 evo. 9.8 hotside
05 evo 10.5 hotside
06 evo 10.5 hotside with bigger compressor cover side


i think thats right

so if i get a new hotside for the 8 turbo will it be the same as the 05 evo?

if you have an 03 or 04 turbo and you do the 10.5 hotside upgrade yes you will now have a 2005 evo turbo

If you upgrade to the 10.5 hotside yes.

If you're thinking of mounting the '06 turbo onto an '03-'05 Evo, then you're also going to need certain IX specific, ancillary bits and pieces, such as: a IX compressor housing discharge tube, a IX wastegate actuator, as well as assorted Evo IX oil and coolant feed and drain tubes.

Buschur makes a kit for 20G turbo installs on VIIIs. Should include everything needed for a IX turbo to VIII swap.

Even $150 for the "install kit" is a rip-off. It can be purchased from MitsubishiParts.net for about $80 shipped. If you dont want to bend the stock lines, here's everything you need:
