Car seems like it will stall when pumping gas

Timzcat, great write up. But I'd like to make a correction to one of your posts.
You stated that "gas is not flammable as a liquid, but as a gas it is extremely flammable."
I'd like to say that gas in a liquid state is also extremely flammable it's just not explosive as it is in a gaseous state.

Wow. I can't believe anyone pumps gas with the engine running. At most of the gas stations I've been at, if anyone does anything remotely that stupid, they'll get the pump turned off and get yelled at for being morons.
Would you smoke a cigarette while spraying hairspray onto your head? Probably not. You might get away with it a few times, but eventually, the alcohol fumes would catch, and you'd have a nice shiny bald head to show off for a few weeks.
Honestly, people that are ignorant are going to continue that way until they crack their heads against a wall. If there weren't the chance that other people's lives were in danger, then I'd say let them do their thing and learn the lesson the hard way.
Oh no, your turbo's going to cool? At least that's better than your whole car going up in flames, Einstein.

The reason is acts up is that having the gas cap off creates a vacuum leak. There's an emmissions-related system that is to capture fuel fumes and burn them instead of letting them escape into the atmosphere.
Fire issues aside (from a static spark or such), you are NOT going to toast your car, burn up your motor, anger the Mistu Gods, or cause long-lasting environmental hazards by fueling up while it's running.

umm is it just me or do people in japan leave their cars on while pumping?
but then again, people at the gas station does the filling so i guess there's less danger of accidental static discharges or anything like that..
just something to think about..

static ele is built up from the gas running thru the hose and out the nozzle, and simply by you gettin out of the seat(clothes rub seat) and 1 cup of gas vapor is = to 16 sticks of dinamite, and oxygen is every where. thats the 3 things needed for fire.

Does nobody watch the news and see the stories of the people caught on survelliance footage at the station on fire?
The flash point of gasoline is -45 degrees F. Therefore at ambient temperature any time of year it is effectively boiling off to a gas and is extremely flammable.

My mom was a nurse for over 30 years...ever visit a burn unit in a hospital? I'll tell you right now it ain't pretty...only an utter moron would leave his or her engine running while refueling...
