I was told that this problem is happening because of different expansion rates of the two metals. I put a copper nut on the stud and it holds why I'm not sure. The end of the stud was real easy to put in and take off with just an allen wrench I really liked that feature.
were the stock ones hard to take off? can they be taken off with allen keys?

No, there is no provisions for an allen key on the stock studs.

Basicall the best method I have found is to use two serrated flange head nuts, the first one on backwards, then put the second one on the right way, tighten them together, then pull the stud out.

You could use a stud extractor like they sell at most major hardware studs, but most people usually have a few nuts laying around that can be used for this.

The best style of nut I have found for the job are serrated flange head nuts.

The Reps saw the studs that I was replacing and eventually Mitsu upgraded the end ones to larger 10ga studs. There's a reason why their are studs installed in an aluminum head and not bolts..... And yes, I know how to torque down nuts and bolts.

well then there should be no problem with ''ripping" or striping out the studs or bolts ive had 9 dsms over many of years now and never had any of the exh mani bolts strip out or come out,

The difference in price between our kit and the one offered by extreme PSI is the studs. Their two 10mm fasteners in their kit are bolts. Our kit uses 10mm studs. These size studs are NOT available off the shelf from ARP and cost MUCH more to have made. Call them direct if you don't believe me. Ask them to make them for you and they will make you buy at least 50 at a time. Please compare apples to apples before bashing a company for being a rip off.

they also have a copper nuts set for $37.75. what are the advantages of copper? i would think stainless steel would be stronger (better)

If you stop for a minute and read what I said above, you will see that I said the MANIFOLD warped and ripped out the studs and or broke them. THIS IS WHY MITSUBISHI MADE THE STUDS LARGER ON THE END OF THE MANIFOLD. Maybe you should call Mitsubishi and continue this conversation with them. You can tell them about your 9 DSM's and tell them that they are idiots for installing larger studs for no particular reason.

Don't know, but you can get a nice stock-type stud kit from FP for a reasonable price, and they have it in stock all the time
