Again, look under the hood of the AMS cars their timeattack and others run stock ignitions, but as I said it's your money to **** away.

No coil on plug system in the market we have tested, will work with the factory ECU without misfires. Stick to aftermarket twin coils or stock coils and an amplifier such as the HKS DLi.

If you employ a standalone ECU, then by all means you can investigate the COP systems in the market.

The Spark Tech COP has proved itself in my eyes and in the eyes of many. I am confident enough to say go with Spark Tech, the quality of Craig's work is above and beyond from an aesthetic standpoint and it works just as well as any other.

Ive had great luck with SparkTech ignitions. He sends extra length of wire so you can mount the m&w box inside the car. Craigs system is wired to m&w specs and more

It should be noted that Paul Nelson uses an AEM standalone engine management system with the coil on plug system.

I think everyone here is assuming that since the OP's goal is 700-800hp that he is going standalone...

The HKS DLI is a good ignition and will meet the HP goals you have. The problem is they seem to fail sooner than they should and getting one warranteed...........probably not going to happen. Very good ignition though.

AMS runs our COP on their drag car, we run it, Al runs it I can list off a bunch of others who run it. It works flawlessly and we have not had to replace it with different set ups because of misfiring on the dyno or at the track........do your research and make up your own mind. I think if you do your research you will find some "smoke and mirrors" in this thread.

Good luck.

smoke and mirrors

We have been very busy recently updating customers systems from the other cop makers system to our Pro-system. Since all the hard parts are the SAME M & W Pro-12, 300m coils we now offer an upgrade package. Our system is wired to M & W specs theirs is NOT. WWW.MWIGNITIONS.COM download the instructions for the Pro-12 and you guys be the judge.

1. It specifically says to TWIST wires 1 turn in 20mm (THEIRS IS NOT TWISTED)

2. There are two grounds that needs to be connected to the Pro-12 pin # 7 & 8 (THEIRS ONLY HAS 1 GROUND pin#7) The 2 grounds exiting the Pro-12 should then be connected to 14 gauge wire for the run to the battery (theirs has 1 18 gauge wire to the battery)

3. We use military spec wire (theirs uses an off the shelf autoparts quality wire)

4. We use a sealed marine fuse holder in all our CDI systems.

5. We use Varflex mil-spec heat sleeve (theirs is stuffed in to a cheap grade of wire loom not mitsu grade found on the factory wiring harness) and then wrapped with electrical tape to prevent the wires from falling out. Electrical tape after it gets hot will start to melt and just changing your plugs will get you all glued up.

6. We educate the customer about the features on their systems. These Pro-12's can be run in 3 different modes. We recommend the mode after talking to the customer and we select the mode that best suits their application. (the other maker ships ALL systems in multi-spark)

7. We build IGNITIONS SYSTEMS that's all we do so we have the time to specialize and improve our product. We work with our customers on per application basis and build custom length harnesses to suit any installation.

8. We are authorized M&W dealers and offer great service.

It is very clear in Paul Nelson's posts that the misfire issue was NOT ignition related and was due to a broken cam angle sensor wire. Everyone knows Pauls car had recently undergone a massive rebuild. We built a Pro-drag 4 system (5 times more powerful than the Pro-12 wired in multi-spark) for his record attempt. In initial dyno testing they experienced severe break up. Since the ignition was suspect we overnighted our Pro 12 system to Paul to eliminate the possibility that the pro-drag4 was overdriving the 300m coils. The problem still occurred which confirmed the problem was NOT ignition related. Shortly after Lucas (www.englishracing.net) discovered the partially broken cam angle sensor wire . They were already on the dyno for 4hrs@$150per hr so the decision was made to make the runs on the Pro-12 system. Paul and Lucas then went on to set the record that day(1079whp@46psi) . Stay tuned as the Pro-drag4 goes back in to Pauls car as this is the ultimate ignition system for a drag car.

Nick @ DTMotorsorts (www.dtminc.com) recently broke the pump gas record and made 622WHP on a MD dyno, with one of our Pro-12 systems. Congratulations Nick and the entire DTM crew!!

Our Pro system is also starring in Procco's soon to be an 8 second street driven EVO with the help from Rolo @ CFT

If these results and achievements are "smoke and mirrors", then maybe we should take our show on the road.. Watch out Chris Angel!!

There are cars that run on other COP systems that have been proven also and we don't discredit these results. Instead congratulate their achievements. As we mentioned, our main business is ignitions, and thus are able to focus on improving the product line and ultimately benefiting the evo community.

Again, another good thread will either be closed or ruined. It would seem that the promotion of products, must always include direct discredit of other vendors.
We have constantly tried to avoid responding to the innuendos made on the forums. We were left with no choice but to defend ourselves in this case, stating facts.

After all is said and done everyone will be able to see through the smoke and see where the fire started. I'm going back to building the best ignition systems in the world, for our beloved EVOs ....

I sincerely apologize for my taking part in leading the thread a bit off-topic... I really hope that you will find the ignition system to suit YOUR goals.
