*Wastegate debate*
Right now I'm looking into getting a Forge WGA for a IX turbo. I've also heard about the Forced Performance 18PSI HP Acuator and today I've been thinking about purchasing that one but I don't know which one I should go with.
Anyone have any opinions one both of the wastegates? I need to make a decision by Monday. All opinions would be appreciate
What are the pros and cons?
(I'm upgrading cams, cam gears, IX turbo(ported), ported exh. mani, meth and reflash as of now and it's a daily driven car)

I have the FP HD(18#) WGA and it will do the job under most circumstances. It served me well when I ran the 10.5 turbine housing on my EvoGreen, so it should do fine on any of the IX 16G variants equipped with 10.5 hsgs. and running 26+ PSI and moderate(18-20) PSI of WG preload. It is half the price of the Forge units which may or may not be a consideration for you.
Forge has a newer, piston-type IX WGA which supersedes their older, conventional spring and diaphragm WGA. This is what I want to try next on my Green, but most sites still advertise the older Forge unit.

So what's the rush? Do you have a stock IX WGA on your IX turbo? I'd just try what you have first and only if the thing doesn't do the job would I look at an upgrade actuator. Just add some more preload to the stock unit first.

I have an 8, and have tried both. I like the FP wastegate better. It holds boost very steady, and doesnt taper or spike much..very predictable. I had a Forge wastegate with the "red" spring (20+ psi), and i had to preload the living crap out of it for it to not taper...it was OK. But it liked to spike for a brief moment and then level out. Maybe the newer piston design is better.

i myself am running the forge actuator on a fp green. its an awesome looking part and works great. its not too hard to adjust the spring rate on it either. the forge in my opinion is the way to go. good luck with your decision.
