Diff / TC oil change result pics

Well many people probably change their differential and transfer case oil themselves but very few pictures to diagnose normal shavings and oil quality etc..

Well I changed my diff and TC oil with 16k miles on the odometer.

Here are the results:

Rear drain plug: Some very small/fine metal shavings, and very minimal amounts. Most of the stuff on the plug is some sort of jelly type oil. Maybe part of the oil that over heated or went bad?

Transfer case drain plug: Even less amounts of metal shavings than the rear diff but also had the jelly like oil around the head of the plug.

I used the Diaqueen MT 90 (factory) diff oil to fill them back up. I just kept pumping oil till it leveled off to the fill plug and plugged it back up. I was pretty surprised how little amoung of oil is in their. I guess I have enough left to change the oil 4 more times.
