I have HKS 264/264 and I love them. I don't know what power I made before the cams but afterwards I made 297whp & 310wtq at CBRD with Chad tuning the car. Keep in mind he has one of the lowest reading Dyno's on this forum. Stock VIII's make 190-200 whp on his dyno.
I have the exact same mods as you minus the LICP. If you want great mid-range power and torque with near stock idle, get the 264's. I love the way my car pulls now...

who said hks 272 cams are lopey? back then it is lopey, but now with the ecuflash and experience of the tuners, they are just very mild cams. I had my HKS 272 installed recently and they idle almost like stock. it all depends on how good your tuner is to smooth out the idle.
Just don't waste your money on HKS 264, or 264/272 combo.

On average cam will give you 20-30 hp gain, depending on cams and your supporting mods.

HKS 272's or GSC S1's FTW

I have 264's and wish I would have went bigger now that I have the fp green.

264s are a waste of time and $$$ imo. HKS 272's are great for the stock turbo and even up to a 35r. Your tuner shoudl be able to adjust for the idle.

I love my 272/264 split.....never thought they were lopey compared to stock even. It really all depends on the tune.

I'd just like to keep it as stock appearing as possible. I'll probably end up doing cams at the same time as the 2.3L rotating assembly, it would only make sense.
I just built one for a friend's GVR4 and so far it seems to be holding up well. I did it for free (he just paid for the parts) so I could see what exactly I was getting into.
As for you throwing a CEL it's not going to happen. I'm running 272's on stock turbo with reflash and my idle lopes a little bit for about 1 sec. And as for power I made 355whp on c16. A buddy of mine who lives in Philli did his own flash on the same dyno I sent to the only difference with his setup compaired to mine he has GSC S1's and a Perrin FMIC and turboback exhaust. I have HKS 272's and stock FMIC, turbo back exhaust, LICP. I think with just the difference with cams and FMIC he made 390 on c16

Thanks for the GSC cam suggestions everyone.
The S1s will provide very nice spoolup and midrange. Top end is improved, not as much as the S2, but you loose some spool/midrange power on S2s.
It sounds like you want some nice power, but with a smooth idle and long power band. I would definitely suggest the S1.
You can turn the boost up alittle bit more, to around 24-25, and make some very nice power!
With Mivec, you can adjust it to idle like stock, or lope like it has 300s in there.

Thanks,
Travis

Just FYI...I am running HKS 272s with DTM head and I put down 325whp at 23psi/ 93 octane on DTM dyno when it was 76 degree in the shop.

I am getting ready to sell my 264/272 setup to a member on here and then I am thinking straight 272's. I already have some HKS 272's but now am thinking else! Some one buy my 100mm crank so I can get some head work done! LOL Thanks

do a little research on the forums. Someone compared the ones you are talking about and the GSC S1's were superior in gains. I gained 50whp with mine
