Straight from Peakboost Everyone.
The Peakboost HVS Topmount is better because of a couple simple reasons.
1. The "HVS"on the kit is nothing more than high volume speed. That is the longer collector given.
2. The top mount has longer runners. By having such longer runners paired up with the hvs style top mount that helps keep boost during shifting. Those long runners hold up the volume speed. So instead of losing the boost then building it back up, it helps aid in this.
I do agree with the top mount being a little bit of a pain to do maintenance on. I will say though that with any top mount its going to be the same. These Peakboost Kits are under $3995 with Garrett Ball Bearing turbos and you can even get the normal one for under $3400 which is a steal on evom. Its like your paying less, but not sacrificing quality at all. Just look at what comes in the kits. Same Garrett, Tial and lifetime warranty everyone has.

Many would speculate that the higher volume would reduce spool, but to the contrary we've seen the same if not faster spool with the HVS as our short runner FTW manifold. In fact, the Skunk2/BFG IX is seeing full boost @ 4200 rpms with their PeakBoost GT35R HVS setup.
As for the installation, the topmount kit is a little harder on the initial install, but maintenance and turbocharger changes on the topmount are much easier without needing to remove the manifold/entire turbo assembly.

Actually, HVS stands for High Volume Solution... the topmount position allows for a longer, higher volume runner and reduced topend backpressure = less pumping losses and more torque in the topend.
