ATP conversion

A couple months back i decided to buy a ATP 35r turbo kit. i didnt know that the atp kits had that many problems till i tuned that car. i only made 375whp on 30psi, and i was then convinced that the atp 35r kits were just plain garbage. i finally had the time to convert it to t3 and wow what a world of difference. i went over to Pruven performance in milford, ct and got the car tuned. i put down 510whp and 428wtq at 29psi on stock block and stock ecu. so for all you atp lovers out there i personally think there kits suck. I would like to say a big thanks to Dan and John over at Pruven for making this happen, i couldnt of done it with out you guys.

Not starting a war here, but please understand something.

There is no doubt that a standad garrett t3 hotside is more responsive and flows better than the atp unit (also a garrett piece from what I understand), but if your 35r set-up only made 375awhp @ 30psi FIRE YOUR FKIN TUNER.

With an ATP 3076r and .82 a/r hotside, I made 433awhp with MASSIVE boost leaks (wouldn't hold 10psi for more than 1 sec ) on a pump gas tune (no more than 8 deg ). This was at 27-28psi.

You can rant and rave all you want, the proof is in the pudding. There are a few other guys on here on evom that made over 500awhp with atp products. I'm not an ATP fanboy, and I don't even have the kit on my car anymore-- but I just hate to see bad press on something I know for a fact works.

Look at this dyno sheet. The first pass was at 20psi (wastegate pressure),,, See the afr's fall off after 6k?-- I kept having to remove fuel because of the boost leak. By the 10th pass and 7-8 psi more boost I made 100 more awhp. I even had to reduce my base fuel on the afpr down to 38psi to manage the afr's-- That's when I knew the boost leaks where getting the best of me.

The second afr line shows how straight I got the fuel by the 10th pass on the dyno. When you made this 375awhp how many passes where you up to? Did you go through the car with a fine toothed comb to find the issues with your lack of power? Or was the issue corrected during your new turbo instalation? (plugs, wires, new o2 sensor, BOOST LEAK?)

The atp kit was not holding your 35r set-up back for sure.

Enough is enough already.

Thanks a ton!! I crossed over to AEM ems the same day we put the turbo on. I can honestly say that the butt dyno says 20psi (wastegate) feels the same as 27 on the 3076r. A little laggier ( atp used to hit 20psi under 4200rpm) but DAMN that big tial external dump sounds sweet. My pumpgas map gives me 11.1 afr's flat from 6k to infinity.

Boost leaks, ****ty 60fts and all the atp set-up went 118 in a 3463lbs car at 27-28 psi. (I weigh 280lbs).

"Numbers don't lie".

the 35r atp kit for me didnt work, i know everyone on evom has been getting good results from the 30r kit. the car wasnt making power because of my tuner it was because of the atp design of the turbine housing. i didnt see boost until 5700 and now i see full boost at 4800. some people have luck with atp, i just didnt.

i know the car is a beast now, all from changing the turbine housing and putting a manifold on it. its amazing i gain 135whp from that.

i know the 3071r and the 3076r kits work really well. i just dont know why the 3540r kit is that terrible. i converted it to t3 and it made a world of difference.
